How can I begin my journey to homeownership?
Step 1: Check your credit rating. Contact a Columbus Housing
Partnership (CHP) housing and credit counselor to
schedule an appointment at 614-221-8889 x 134. Together, you will
review your credit report at no cost to you. If there are any changes to
be made, they will help you create a plan of action. And, you could be
ready to become pre-qualified for a mortgage!
Step 2: Call CHP and register for Homebuyer
Education. This 8 hour course contains valuable information for anyone
preparing to purchase a home. If you need down payment assistance, then
this course is a requirement.
Step 3: Once you have completed the course and you know how much
house you can afford, contact Homeport, CHP's home
sales division. You can let us know if you are interested in a new build
or renovated home. We will also assist you to find the right lender to
meet your needs.
Step 4: Should you decide that you need a realtor, you can
select one to help you find a home.
